Happo-en Organizes a Demo Experience for Olympic Host Town Summit 2019
The summit for the government-led Host Town initiative was held last weekend at Musashino University.
The Host Town initiative is a unique program for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo. With many athletes and guests from around the world visiting, the Japanese government proposed the concept of Host Towns to maximize this unique opportunity for cultural exchange and friendship. Many non-central cities across Japan have already registered for the initiative. Through various programs and international connection, there will be innovative collaboration, cultural exchange, and economic growth.
On February 22nd and 23rd, all the Host Town representatives that are currently registered gathered to connect and prepare for 2020. They also discussed long-term plans that will continue beyond the Olympics.
At this event, Happo-en had the privilege of organizing and curating a demo experience as well as catering.
This demo experience was a space for participants to see what cultural exchange could look like. It was a place to imagine how to offer warm hospitality while sharing about the city’s cultural heritage, unique activities, and heart of the local people.
We curated this space for Bulgaria and five Host Towns (Murayama City in Yamagata, Ichikawa City in Chiba, Sakuragawa City in Ibaraki, Okayama City in Okayama, and Munakata City in Fukuoka). These diverse groups were showcased through visual media, local food culture, and more. As many people participated, we trust that we were able to spark inspiration for the Host Towns.
Through this event, we were reminded that at the root of any initiative, there is a visionary whose passion draws in others to join. Then this creates a ripple effect, and a movement is started.
Happo-en is committed to grow as a hospitality event curator that helps visionaries from Japan and around the world bring their ideas to life.
