The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia has begun and some of you may not be getting enough sleep these days. Now in Japan, some public viewing events have started placing a premium on additional entertainment, more than ever before, in preparation for several big upcoming sporting events in 2019 and 2020.

Everyone, not only soccer fans, can enjoy the events, which can feature
a DJ, a live performance, a festival, food stands and games, a popular commentator, and more. The tickets for most of these events are completely sold out. So, Happo-en will provide some events and food to set the mood for the World Cup.

In Happo-en’s main lobby, Tanabata* decorations were set up last Friday. At Tanabata, it’s a tradition to write a wish on a colored strip of paper, and then hang it from a bamboo branch. You can take part in this tradition with our Tanabata decorations. Why don’t you wish for Japan’s victory in the World Cup?
*Tanabata, the “Star festival,” is celebrated each year on July 7. This holiday’s origins stem from a Chinese legend about two bright stars, Altair and Vega, who were in love. They were so consumed by their love that they neglected their work. This angered the gods who, as punishment, separated them to opposite sides of the Milky Way. They were allowed to reunite only once a year, on July 7.
