Olympics Model Host Town Kick-off Event

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, the Model Host Town will be set up on Musashino University Ariake campus to introduce and promote the Host Town Initiative. As one of the events leading up to it, we hosted the Model Host Town showroom on August 27th.

This event showed a portion of the actual 2020 Host Town House and also showcased the cultural exchanges between athletes from different countries and local host towns that have happened so far. Included in the event were booths that highlighted the host towns that were affected by the 2011 tsunami, whose participation in the initiative showcases their recovery progress and gratitude for international support. The supporting members booth shared information about all the supporting organizations that are part of this initiative.

We were involved in creating the menu and producing the event.

Over 500 guests representing local municipalities, embassies, and companies gathered at the event, gearing up for the 2020 Model Host Town which will be the culmination of the Host Town Initiative.

Being a member of the Host Town Promotion Committee is exactly in alignment with our mission to share the spirit of Japanese hospitality (omotenashi) with the world. We will continue to work hard to share about the beauty of Japanese culture that is becoming more and more known around the world, and also how local towns are connecting with the world.

Our hope is not only for the success of the 2020 Model Host Town but that the Host Town Initiative will continue to spread beyond 2020. We are committed to working creatively as we propose new ideas, produce events, and curate diverse dishes for the initiative.
