The Host Town Summit 2020 on February 22nd will be held at the same university campus as the actual Host Town House during the Olympic games. The aim is for local cities and towns across Japan who are part of this program to exchange information, with the hope to provide helpful ideas for participating municipalities. There will be opportunities to learn from unique host town activities as well as about some challenges that are being faced by various host towns. With time and space provided for participants to exchange information on current activities, different cities can be exposed to innovative ideas and how-tos for running the program. The goal is to stimulate diverse cross-cultural activities that highlight and harness the unique regional qualities. A model of the actual “cultural houses” that will be installed at the 2020 Host Town House will also be provided so the participants can visualize what the final operation will look like. With the Olympic games quickly approaching, there are many preparations necessary to ensure that all the various programs supporting the event are successful.
