Producers support project 


Enjoy the view of our Japanese garden with the Thrush Caf?’s summer beer terrace.





Happo-en’s annual beer terrace will be held at the ever popular Thrush cafe, which is located inside Happo-en. This summer we will be hosting our event with the title of “FARMERS SUPPORT BEER EVENT” in support of producers who have been affected in various ways by the new coronavirus.






Enjoy our beer terrace with peace of mind while savoring dishes made using naturally grown ingredients that are gentle on the body and the craft beer of your choice, as we have prepared a wide open space overlooking our Japanese garden.







Event Period: July 23, 2020(Thursday) – September 26, 2020 (Saturday)

*Event will only be held on Fridays, Saturdays and days before national holidays


Time: 11:00-21:00 [L.O. 20:00] *Reservations are required.

Price: 4,000 yen per person (tax included) (Includes 2 dishes and 1 drink)

■ TEAM HAPPO-EN- Supporting producers with food and drink!

Since our reopening, we heard from producers all over Japan; who have collaborated with TEAM HAPPO-EN on various food initiatives together, that they are currently facing a variety of difficulties. As the spread of the new coronavirus continues food products sales are decreasing and a large amount of inventory is going unsold. We started thinking of ways in which we could help and came up with the idea having this year’s beer terrace theme be, “Supporting Producers Beer Event”.





At the event we will be serving two dishes; the “Farmer’s Plate- 12 types of vegetables” and the “Brochette & Nature’s Bounty Plate”, both of which incorporate naturally grown seasonal vegetables grown by producers from all over the country. The chefs at Happo-en have crafted a menu that makes use of the deliciousness of the ingredients themselves, while also providing a satisfying meal that is perfect for enjoying with a beer












■Happo-en’s original beer and a new beer will be available for the first time this year!

In addition to Happo-en’s original beer “Farm to Ale Fragrant Weizen,” which was created in collaboration with Yokohama Beer and a favorite of our regular customers, we will also be serving Hop Japan’s craft beer which was made from 100% hand-picked hops.


The producer, Mr. Makoto Honma of Hop Japan Co., Ltd. has worked in the energy industry for many years and aims to create a sustainable and a recycle oriented town with hops, craft beer, and renewable energy. He is also working with Fukushima University to convert used malt waste and leftover beer into energy in an effort to eliminate waste.

On Thursday, August 6, 2020, he will be hosting an online beer event where you can sample Hop Japan’s craft beer from the comfort of your own home while learning more about Mr. Honma’s sustainable initiatives and his passion for his hometown














■This year’s event will be all day and will include a special children’s menu 

This year’s Beer Terrace will be held all day from 11:00am – 9:00pm (L.O. 8:00pm), including lunchtime, which means you can make a reservation for any time!






For a limited time only, a special children’s curry menu will be available, so that everyone can enjoy this event together. We hope you and the whole family will visit our restaurant. In order to accommodate the new way of life, our restaurant has created an open space that prevents crowds from forming, and each dish will be delivered with a hygienic lid. In addition, our popular terrace seats offer a panoramic view of the Japanese garden at Happo-en. Relax and enjoy our beer terrace this summer!
