Happo-en’s original craft beer, Farm to Ale Scented Weizen,

was created in collaboration with Yokohama Beer Corporation in August 2017.

This weizen-style beer is brewed with wheat from Iwasaki Farm in Seya-ku,

Yokohama, and spring water from Doshimura, Yamanashi Prefecture,

which is the source of water for Yokohama City.

You can enjoy this beer in the Thrush Caf? every summer until early autumn,

as the flavor is most enjoyable during these seasons.

At a time when industries are experiencing various difficulties due the spread of Covid-19,

we have redesigned the label on our Farm to Ale Scented Weizen (330ml bottle)

and we are offering it at a special price until Wednesday,

September 30, 2020, in an effort to boost Yokohama Beer’s sustainable efforts.

■ Yokohama Beer’s Sustainable Initiatives

Based on the concept of “bringing Yokohama beer to locals along with local ingredients,

” Yokohama Beer continues to produce the only locally brewed beer in Yokohama,

which is also the birthplace of the Japanese beer industry,

and is working on a sustainable food initiative called “Food Loop” by teaming up with various partnerships.

The “Food Loop” initiative recycles food waste through various partnerships.

We compost the malt lees that are left over from the beer brewing process as well as

leftover food from restaurants and other businesses in Yokohama City,

which is then provided to the Hyakushokai farmer’s group in Doshimura, Yamanashi Prefecture.

People can enjoy vegetables that have grown from the provided compost at restaurants

in Yokohama City that are directly managed by Yokohama Beer.

Our hope for this initiative is that it will help to revitalize Doshi Village in Yamanashi Prefecture,

which is the source of Yokohama City’s water supply, and boost employment in the depopulation area.
