Join us for a night of wine sampling at the MuSuBu wine event, “Yamanashi City Pop-up Alley”!

 

 

Experience the charm of Yamanashi city first hand at the “Yamanashi City Pop-up Alley” wine event set to be held on September 12 (Sat.) and 13 (Sun.) at MuSuBu; the newly opened pop-up showroom that fuses online and real activities, while specializing in creating unique community content.

 

 

Yamanashi city wineries have a special tradition of using sake bottles instead of wine bottles for their wines. In order to keep with the local culture, event goers will receive a Japanese teacup that they will use to sample and compare the different wines.

Yamanashi city’s “wine in sake bottles”, which is a popular favorite amongst locals, is typically served in a Japanese teacup. On the day of the event, our caf? & bar’s lineup will consist of two wineries from Yamanashi City, “Toben Yo-shu” and “Yamanashi Kosho Kogyo”. Be sure to pick up your personal Japanese “teacup” from the reception, so that you can enjoy a night of sampling and comparing like a local!

In our caf?-bar we have prepared a variety of delicacies that utilizes the “Shine Muscat”, which is a specialty of Yamanashi City. One in particular is a special sweet created by the Happo-en food produce teams in collaboration with Yamanashi City & Kyrgyzstan. Yamanashi city is the host town for Kyrgyzstan for the 2020 Tokyo Games and has been engaged in a variety of international exchanges events primarily with a focus on food.

<Toshin Yoshu Corporation>

 

Toshin Yoshu Corporation was founded in 1963 by graduates of Nichiren High School in Yamanashi Prefecture. Their founding was based on the idea that, “as grape farmers, we wanted to create a wine that we like and that we can drink together with everyone!”, and is still making wine using grapes grown by Mr. Tagusagawa’s former high school teachers and classmates.

 

 

 

<Yamanashi Hakko Kogyo Corporation>

Yamanashi Hakko Kogyo Corporation was established by 450 families in the Yamanashi area with the idea of “making wine that we can enjoy with the grapes we produce”. Since this wine is made from grapes that are grown with love by local farmers, it is especially cherished by members of the community. As such most of the wine produced is consumed within the city and therefore it is not often sold in stores.

2. Learn about the local lore of “Yogenotori” which has recently been gaining major attention! 

In addition to this, the “Yogenotori Wine”, that is currently sold-out due to the popularity of the lore, will be available in limited quantities at this event!

 

The Yogenotori (a two headed bird) lore, originated from Yamanashi Prefecture and in recent days has been attracting a great deal of attention after another auspicious yokai from Japanese lore, the “Amabie” made an appearance on many SNS sites in response to current pandemic. It is said that the Yogenotori predicted a cholera epidemic the swept across the land during the Edo period. Since then many people believed that if you displayed a picture of the Yogenotori on your gate any misfortune that you were currently facing would end. 

  

Since this wine was introduced on the news, it has since sold out. However on the day of this event, a limited quantity of “Yogenotori Wine “, a grape wine produced by Mr. Tusagawa of T?shin Y?shu Corporation, will be available just for this event! 

 

 

3. Connect with Yamanashi City producers for an online discussion about the “Shine Muscat”.

 

In this online and real life infused event, Mr. Keisuke Maruyama from Agbell Co., Ltd., a grape farm that has been in business for more than 60 years in Yamanashi City, will be joined by Mr. Tatsuhiko Hayashi and Mr. Daisuke Minami; grape farmers, through an online platform. Our guest speakers will discuss their passion for growing gapes and will provide a more in-depth explanation of the “Shine Muscat, a grape that possesses a rare and brilliant diamond-like shine.

4. Learn about “Shine Muscat”, a specialty of Yamanashi City, through a short seminar.

On Sunday, September 13, 2020, we will be joined by Ms. Kumiko Oda from Vineyard Inc., a company that delivers Yamanashi fruit all over the country, who will introduce the appealing points of the Shine Muscat. 

We will also connect online with Mr. Kazuhiro Matsuzaki, a farmer from Yokohama who learned how to grow fruit trees during his time working at a fruit farm in Yamanashi City. Mr. Kazuhiro Matsuzaki will teach the way to identify the best tasting Muscat grapes. Additionally, we will learn how to peel as well as different ways in which you can enjoy the fruit that will bring out the full flavor of the Shine Muscat.
