Walking into the Future

A Look Back at 2020 Contents Produced by Happo-en

This year, we have been working towards responding to each and every voice of our loyal customers, while taking on the challenge of implementing a variety of initiatives to ensure that safety and security of our guests during their time with us and making their time at Happo-en a memorable one.

In the last edition of this year’s HAPPO-EN PRODUCE LETTER, we will look back and revisit the efforts that Happo-en has taken this year, as we prepare to accomplish even more together in the year 2021.

<Three Major 2020 Productions>

1. Prompt presentation of measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and distribution of pictograms.

2. Online wedding consultations and introduction of “LIVING ROOM WEDDING” a third form of wedding participation.

3. Opening of the new store “MuSuBu” and creating new community content from Platinum Street

1. Prompt presentation of measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and distribution of pictograms.

During the suspension of operations due to the declaration of the state of emergency in Japan, Happo-en has been working to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus by establishing a support system and strengthening hygiene management to better control risks so that all our guests can spend their time at Happo-en with peace of mind.

Happo-en preventative countermeasures were quickly made public and were developed in an easy-to-understand visual manner using originally designed pictograms and posters. The pictograms and posters are distributed on the websites for free use by companies, organizations, and individuals committed to hygiene management for the safety and security of their customers.

Moreover, we have produced and implemented creative countermeasures for this COVID-19 era, such as plastic lid covers for meals or preventative droplet infection panels that can be incorporated into a standing-style banquet and can be used as a part of table coordination without disturbing conversation and meals.

2. Online wedding consultations and introduction of “LIVING ROOM WEDDING” a third form of wedding participation.

In spite of the circumstances, we wanted to offer our heartfelt support to the couples who decided to move forward by joining hands and support each other, which is why we created an online wedding consultation during the declaration of emergency.

Through these online consultations, the Happo-en wedding team and couples would create together a one-of-a-kind proposal based on the couple’s “vision” of their ideal wedding.

Furthermore, in the “with Corona” era, Happo-en proposed a third style of event participation that allowed guests to choose to either participate at the venue or online. The online participants would not only be able to interact with event venue participants in real time, but they would be able to enjoy the same meal as venue participants.

Our third style of wedding participation called “LIVING ROOM WEDDING”, was first held in September 2020.

Through the “LIVING ROOM WEDDING”, we deliver a portion of the wedding course to guests in advance, so that they can experience the excitement of the wedding and food with peace of mind from the comfort of their homes. On the day of the wedding, the chef at the venue will support online guests with meal preparation.

3. Opening of the new store “MuSuBu” and creating new community content from Platinum Street

In August of this year, we opened our new pop-up showroom, “MuSuBu” on Platinum Street in Shiroganedai. Through “MuSuBu” we aim to develop unique content and producing a variety of pop-up events that will bring people and goods to the region. We will accomplish this by creating community content through a fusion of online and instore activities, with a focus on “people” and “food” that will hopefully lead to a new hub of activity and exchange on the Platinum street.

MuSuBu holds weekly pop-up events with the goal of promoting and supporting the appeal of various regions, producers, and cultures, both domestic and international. In addition to exhibition booths, our chefs develop a menu that brings out the best of local specialties and products.

In 2020, we held pop-up events to support sustainable efforts for local producers, culture, and traditional techniques, as well as events that connected Takanawa Gateway Station Poke-marche and cooking classes for children with Happo-en chefs. We have created a wide range of community contents by supporting the host town activities of local governments, developing food that will serve as a food legacy linking countries, and collaborative events to support the efforts of schools that have signed cooperation agreements with Happo-en.
