Bringing craftsmanship to the world through traditional furnishing
MUJYOAN
Okawa City in Fukuoka Prefecture, is Japan's number one producer of traditional furnishings, with a history spanning 480 years. Our first collaboration with this city was pertaining to the development of “MUJYOAN-無常庵”, which is a movable tea house and an integral piece that is use in many events at Happo-en. Since then, we have worked with the craftsmen of Okawa City to jointly develop a variety of furnishings, from vessels, stacked boxes, letter cases, chairs and fixtures. Through hands-on woodworking and “kumiko” experiences, we are able to introduce Japanese culture to Japan and the world. Furthermore in 2017, we signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Okawa City that enables us to use our respective skills and resources to revitalize the region and promote Japanese culture to the rest of the world.
